IP Tracer...

I need to get access to a more powerful IP tracer. The ones I've been using have been pretty crappy. Oh, well.

And if someone is curious as to why I would say that, it's because when people post anonymously and don't put their names somewhere in their comment, I get a little nervious and I tend to trace their IP address (which I log for anonymous comments).

Seriously, though, if you have something to say to me, don't feel like you need to do it anonymously. I'm not so insecure in what I believe that to say something that I may not want to hear is going to make me turn on you. Plus, I leave anonymous comments as an option because I'd also like to hear from people who may not have a LiveJournal, but I'd like to know who you are so that I can know where you're coming from when you make a point.

Anyway, that's enough of that. I think I'm going to go see a movie tonight... I doubt I'll care which one I see, but whatever... it's a student thing.

well I got a few things you can use but I am not gonna give them to you just for that. If you don't like people talking smack or just posting and not leaving a name, perhaps its just a radom user or something. But you have it open for anyone so there is not much control you can over it, but you could just make it users only. I mean you don't need codes anymore to make a name and that way its easier to track and know. ~shrugs~ my 2cents. LOL

sorry, i do not know you, but--

how would an 'ip tracer' help in any way?

i think something more useful would be ip whois. check this out.

A whois only tells me what server the poster is running off of, where as a tracer will tell me where they are.

I highly agree...

I don't like not knowing who's posting comments in my journal too.... ^_^ so i agree people should let us know who they are when they post...anyhoo...
