To My Friends, Please Read

For those of you who consider me your friend or want to consider me your friend, I decided to write up a few guidelines for how you can go about doing that. This is not to say that you have to do anything on this list if you don’t want to. As a matter of fact, if you don’t want to do something, I’d rather you not do it.

Anyway, here’s my list:
1. Be genuine. Be my friend because you want to, not because you have to.
2. Spend time with me. I don’t care what or where (although I have limited cash, so be mindful of that). I value quality time a great deal.
3. If you’re not abhorred by it, don’t be afraid of physical contact. I grew up giving my family and friends hugs and I’m used to that form of affection. I don’t get a whole lot of it anymore, so it would be highly welcome.
4. Be aware that my life has drained me of a lot of energy over the years. I need to know that there is reciprocation before I can do a whole lot. I know it’s not entirely fair for me to ask this of my friends, but I’ve known too many one-sided relationships and I don’t have the emotional energy to afford it anymore.
5. Let me know. If you consider me your friend, for God’s sake, please tell me. I need to hear these things.

Now, I am aware that many of you might not be in a position to follow through on these, especially those of you that are in far away lands. This list is more intended for those that are able to be around me in person. If you’re too far away, then it’s okay to just go with numbers 1, 4, and 5. I also always enjoy letters, if that works for you.

Ooh ooh pick me!
I was thinking this week that we really do need to hang out soon. When are good evenings for you?

If it makes things any better, I'll be back in Oregon by the middle of July, to stay permanently.

And I know that we really don't know each other too much, and that my LJ posts can be a bit too rediculous and crazy, but there's a lot more here than that. :)

Hey, It's Jo! I've been so disconnected from everyone lately. How is your world spinning?
I miss the days I would steal your coat.
