I had sent him an e-mail asking if he'd critique some of my work and also asking a few questions about his journey towards becoming a composer. He sent a response saying that he usually doesn't critique other people's compositions because he doesn't want to taint them with his ideas instead of the ideas of the composer (mind you, this is partly paraphrased). Then he included an essay that he wrote concerning his start as a composer. The essay was pretty cool and pretty insightful (the "current music" is actually from a little joke he wrote in the essay).
