Almost Dragged Under...

Today is Warner Pacific's major blood drive. They're really big on it, so there have been a bunch of people running around grabbing people to sign up. Up until Thursday, last week, I was safe from them because I thought that I couldn't give blood due to my TB test before school started. However, Thursday came around and Bryn came and managed to get me questioning whether or not the TB test was a viable excuse.

Coming to today, I went down to the student union (where the blood drive was happening), grabbed my number and started reading the little pamphlet on when you shouldn't give blood. Right off the bat, I found my escape... legitimate escape. Turns out, if you've been in... well, most of Europe for a time that adds up to or exceeds six months (from January 1, 1980 to now), you shouldn't give blood. Ding! I was born in Norway and lived there three years! That's six times as long as the stipulation!

So, I asked the nurse about it. She then asked the blood drive coordinator, who in turn gave me my ticket to freedom. Not only that, it gives my brother (who's been dreading this far more than I have) an out, as well. He lived in Norway for eight years, so if they won't take my blood, they're seriously not going to take his. It's just too bad that he's in class and I can't tell him... yet...
