Now That I'm Awake...

I had a nice nap... anyway, today was kinda interesting. I woke up at about ten o'clock this morning, which was a fairly relaxing feeling. I then ironed my tux to get ready for my performance (I gotta keep my tux from getting wrinkled... it's a pain to iron it). After I got ready, I waltzed down to the school in my tux with leather trenchcoat. I must say that I got some of the funniest looks from people. I assume most of them were thinking, "He's dressed nice, but DAMN HE MUST BE HOT!"... I assume this because those that know me were saying the exact same thing once I got to ACMA.

The fun really started once I got to ACMA... I found out that the yearbooks had come in, but that glindafoz was going to horde them until the Movie Night on Saturday (I don't blame her! hehe...); a girl told me that she has had a crush on me; and gnomeundrwrlint kissed me on the cheek four times, non-consecutively... all this was during a period of about a half hour.

Once Ms. Thompson had finished doing preperation for her substitute for the rest of the week (who was also our accompanist, this afternoon), we went to girls' choir and then off to the Beaverton School District Office. The performance was short, but fairly good. It was the best we've ever done "Reuben, Rachel", but the "Gershwen Swing Set" was a little bumpy.

In my own case, once we got to the last part, "Our Love is Here to Stay", I had a little difficulty hitting one particular note which often seems off key, then going down a half-step, resolves. I accidentally hit the note about a full step above the actual pitch, but I had to choose between enduring it or bringing attention to the mistake. That choice was simple. I hit the note wrong, then brought it down a half-step on cue, which really hurt. It was ugly to me, and never resolved, but the harmony is a little crazy in that section anyway.

Afterword, Becky took me to Baja Fresh, where I picked up a Baja Burrito... however, I forgot to have them remove the guaccomole... I hate guaccomole, so I tried to ignore it and focus on the hearty amount of chicken. I better stop talking about my food before I start explaining how it digested...

Tonight, there was a performance on OPB by Renee Flemming and some other guy. I really like Renee, but she seemed a little out of her element on this performance. It was mostly Gershwen and showtunes-type stuff. She performed them wonderfully with incredible skill, but she's been in opera a bit too long. Her style seems much more fitting of arias and really beautiful and complex classical stuff like that.

The other guy kinda sucked in my opinion. He had marvelous skill and really awesome tone quality, but he was sloppy with it and was REALLY out of place singing that stuff. He didn't take his pieces to heart, which I felt bad about. Anytime you perform, you have to mean it. That's why I tend to stray away from objectional material in songs or acts I've been asked to do. Lisa (last name removed for courtesy) once asked me to play the part of Richard from "Victor, Victoria". However, I personally wasn't really comfortable with the play to begin with, so playing the part (which I would've had to take to heart) wasn't something I was willing to do.

Anyway, they also sung a couple pieces that we did at the Newmark. It was kinda funny because I could picture Dance West doing their thing and the actors reading their poetry... I wish we still had more nights of that... that was one of the big highlights for me in high school. I will definately perform there once I have a solo career...

I'm now waiting for a call from Casey... about what, I'm not sure... Adieu!
