Jury Flop

So, I did pretty bad on my juries. I went home one Saturday, got allergies from the cats, got my voice screwed up because of it, and forgot some of the pronounciations to the Italian that I was supposed to sing. I'll still get an A, but it's sounding like they're not going to recommend that I go on to the next level. I don't want to be set back like that. I could cram two level changes into next year, but I'd rather not. I'd rather have the liberty of taking things easily.

This sucks...

they should base whether you move on on more than just one performance. your abilities in class should help you. good luck.

At PSU, they let you postpone juries if your voice is out, from alergies or sick or something like that. Can you do that at your school?

And also, I think postponing your first level change is not necessarily a bad thing. You'll have to work harder to catch up (a good thing!), or you will have to perfect your technique more before changing level (also not a bad thing!) Anything that forces you to improve can't be all bad.

Still, though, it sucks. Level changes can be really stressful. So congatulations just getting though your jury.

BTW, can you take voice lessons over summer and apply for level changes after that term?

As far as I know, juries happen twice a year; once in December and once in May... that's pretty much it.
